Can I book a car with no security deposit?
Yes, you can book a car without security deposit. A non-refundable ‘Deposit Free’ fees shall be applicable at the beginning of the rental. Any or all charges applicable on the rental shall be paid by the customer within 48 hours or at the time agreed with DRIVUS.

Why is a credit card preferred to rent a car?
Credit cards are preferred for the security deposit. This blocked amount is not deducted from the card unless there are charges added to a contract after the DRIVUS vehicle has been returned. For example, toll & traffic fines

When will DRIVUS refund the blocked amount to a credit card?
Deposit by Cash/Debit Card: The customer can expect the cash or debit card deposit to be processed within 21 business days, after any applicable charges are deducted. The remaining amount via bank transfer as per the account details that is provide to the Accounts team. DRIVUS is not responsible for bank-rejected transfers fees.
Important: Before providing your bank details, please confirm that your bank can receive international transfers from the country where you made your deposit. If you haven't heard from our Accounts team by the 21st business day, please don't hesitate to contact us.
Deposit by Credit Card: The security deposit is placed as a pre-authorization hold on your card, there's no refund to be initiated from DRIVUS. However, it can take up to 29 days (or even less, depending on your bank) for this hold to be released by your bank.

Will the return of security deposit be shown on the credit card statement?
Customers might get a message from their bank when the money is blocked. The blocked amount won’t be charged from the account. Customers will only see actual charges on their credit card statements. We encourage you to check your bank statement or with your bank directly to confirm this.

What kind of driver's license is required to drive in the UAE, and does it have to be an International License?
UAE Resident Visa holders must have held a Valid UAE license for over a year. For visitors with a GCC passport, a valid GCC Country License is required. For other countries, a valid International Driving License is mandatory. For a list of countries whose visa holders can drive without an international license is below:

Is there a minimum age to rent a vehicle?
Yes, the renter must be at least 21 years old, and hold a valid driving license for over a year. For customers aged 21 – 23 a Young Driver Fee shall apply. Read Terms and Conditions for Young Drivers or speak to one of our executives.

Do customers have to pay for parking in UAE?
Finding parking in the UAE is generally convenient, with many areas offering paid roadside parking with meters. However, parking fees vary depending on the time of day and the specific zone.
To ensure you pay the correct amount:
Check the parking zone signage to determine the applicable rate.
You can find instructions for using the parking meters, zone information, and fees displayed on the machines, signs, or online.
Please note: Each Emirate may have its own format for displaying parking information, SMS notification options, and fee structures.

What about traffic violations?
We strongly urge all customers to follow the traffic regulations for their safety and to ensure that they adhere to the law.
The most common traffic fines reported in the country include:
-Exceeding the speed limit
-Driving below the speed limit
-Failure to pay for parking
-Poor lane discipline
-Not following traffic signals
-Using a mobile phone, texting, taking photos, eating, or even applying makeup while driving
-Failure to wear seat belts

What happens if there's a breakdown or accident?
DRIVUS offers 24/7 breakdown and roadside assistance with all rental packages. If a vehicle is involved in an accident, contact Police at 901 and get a police report. Please note a valid police report is mandatory in case of any damage or accident.
Please notify our rental desk of the incident and the customer will be provided a replacement vehicle, should it be required.

Can a DRIVUS car be used for towing a trailer or caravan?
No. Towing is a violation of the rental agreement and is not permitted under any circumstances.

Can anyone other than the named driver on the agreement drive the car?
Yes, an additional driver can be added for a minimal charge. Inform our rental desk executive at the time of the rental and make sure that the extra driver has a passport and valid driving license.

Can customers pick up the vehicle at one location and drop it off at any other?
Yes, you can conveniently drop off your car at any DRIVUS location within the UAE. There may be a minimum drop-off charge applicable if you choose to return the car at a location different from your pick-up location, including airports. There's also an additional fee for drop-off or pick-up at Al Maktoum Airport, as it's situated outside the city limits.

What happens if the car is returned late?
We understand that plans can change! DRIVUS offers a generous 90-minute grace period on every rental. This gives you a little extra flexibility if you run a bit late.
If you anticipate needing your rental car for longer, extending your rental is easy. Just contact the branch directly, and they'll be happy to help you out. Please note that extensions may incur an additional day's charge.

Can DRIVUS vehicles be driven off road?
No. Off-road use is a violation of the rental agreement and is strictly forbidden. The insurance does not cover off-road use. Please read the Terms and Conditions.

Is this possible to extend the rental period beyond the initial booking?
Absolutely. Rental extensions can be made any time during rental. Customer can contact the rental desk.

If a customer has full insurance (Super Collision Damage Waiver - SCDW), do they still need a police report if the vehicle is damaged?
While Super Collision Damage Waiver (SCDW) minimizes your financial responsibility for vehicle damage, a police report is still required to activate your coverage. It's important to remember that SCDW needs to be selected at the time of booking or vehicle pick-up, as it cannot be added later during your rental.

Can customers drive to Oman or Saudi Arabia in a DRIVUS vehicle from UAE?
While DRIVUS UAE rentals are currently limited to within the United Arab Emirates, we'd be happy to discuss your travel plans and explore alternative options. Feel free to contact us directly for any further inquiries.

Do DRIVUS need to be notified if a booking has been made but travel plans have changed?
We understand that travel plans can sometimes change! DRIVUS offers flexibility to modify your booking if your needs change. Just let us know as soon as possible, and we'll be happy to adjust your reservation.
Please note that depending on the current rates and your new travel dates, there may be a difference in the rental price. We'll be transparent about any additional charges before confirming the modification.
If you need to cancel your rental altogether, be sure to give us adequate notice to avoid any cancellation fees. We want to make sure you're not charged for a car you won't be using.

Is there a refund available for unused days on a rental agreement?
Daily & Weekly Rentals: Please note that there are no refunds for unused days on these plans.
Monthly Rentals: We calculate monthly rentals based on a 30-day period. However, if you need to return the vehicle early, we can offer a partial refund based on the applicable daily rate.
To secure your day, weekly and monthly rental, an upfront payment is required.
